Stephen originally arrived in Shanghai 1996 to set up JWT China’s Planning Department in the very early days of the Chinese Ad Industry. In his 30 years in the business he has also worked with Lowe, JWT and Nitro in senior planning and management roles in Australia, Hong Kong and Mainland China.
In 2015 Stephen saw the light and came back to his spiritual home, Y&R (where he started as a graduate trainee in the 1980s), after working on the dark-side at Coca-Cola in Regional and China Communications Leaderships roles.
He has worked on everything from toothpaste, banks, deodorants, ice-cream, beer and fast cars – often at the same time - with the likes of HSBC, Unilever, Danone, J&J, Nike, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Audi, and AB Inbev and many others.
Stephen has both won and been a judge for major Effectiveness Awards. He is on the Global Editorial Board of the Journal of Advertising Research. And he is one of the few planners with a D&AD Yellow Pencil.
